Daniel Land has been releasing dream-pop and ambient music for over a decade.
As a songwriter, first with the Manchester-based Daniel Land & The Modern Painters, and now as a solo artist, he has developed a unique blend of shoegaze and confessional song writing. His first album of songs, ‘Love Songs For The Chemical Generation’, was called “One of the finest shoegaze tinged, ambient guitar records of its time” by Drowned In Sound, and it’s single ‘Within The Boundaries’ was described as being “Like Slowdive reimagined by Phil Spector” by the NME. The album is now widely considered to be a cult classic of the shoegaze genre.
Daniel’s third album of songs, ’In Love With a Ghost’, is his most complicated and textured record to date, bringing into his trademark dream-pop style elements of sophisti-pop artists like The Blue Nile and Bryan Ferry. The album features over twenty musicians and was recorded at various locations including London, Manchester, Devon, California, and New York.
The Skinny called him a “dreampop cult hero”; lauded by Guy Garvey, Marc Radliffe, Tom Robinson, and many others, he makes the kind of music that, in the words of BBC Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank, “You can’t help think the late John Peel would have loved”.
